A gameshow run virtually (which we want to eventually sell as a physical competition to someone like Netflix, BBC or Prime) which, every year, searches for the best Agile Team in the world.
Imagine if "The Great British Bake Off" meets "The Repair Shop", with a bit of "Mythbusters" thrown in, all with a collaborative vibe of "Easy-Bake Battle".
These will be the Friendly Games - the Commonwealth Games of Agile.
It's about learning - You get a friendly competition to evelvate everyone's Agile Learning and Adoption, and to find better Agile ways of working for different scenarios.
The Rounds & Episodes Hosting
There are a series of Rounds which will determine the winners. Round 1 may be run a number of times across different events or "Episodes". The winner(s) of each Episode will advance to Round 2, and so on. We anticipate there will be 8 Rounds in total, but this will depend on the number of teams which sign up to compete in any given year.
According to the number of teams that register, we will have to run multiple Episodes per Round. Also depending on the number of Teams registering, multiple teams from an Episode in one Round may progress to the following Round.
The Episodes will be hosted by MeetUp groups or similar who can offer to host one or more Episodes across multiple Rounds.
We plan to run the Episodes from April to November 2023. But we need to start prepering now.
We will host up to 5 Teams per Episode.
We anticipate the following naming convention:
Round 1 Ep 1
Round 1 Ep n
Round 2 Ep 1
Round n Ep n
...
Competing Teams
Each Round the Teams will use Agile ways of working, Ingenuity and Problem-Solving to deliver what the customer needs. They will compete to solve a game or challenge posed. Each Round will run the same game or challenge at each Episode.
How does the Team get onto an Episode?
As the Teams and Episodes come on stream we will invite Teams to comete at a given Episode, on an first come first serve basis.
Benefiting Humanity
Every Episode of every Round will provide valuable learnings for the competitors, the judges and the audience in attendance. We will learn things which we will be able to apply immediately to our work and home lives.
Preparing for the Competition
Each Round will focus on one or more of the Key Ideas of Agile, and will reference one of more "We are Agile because..." statements and draw from The Agile Leader's Manifesto.
One way to prepare is to take the free Agility Maturity Assessment for Teams and for Leaders.
